#3 on A FISTFUL OF TRAILERS (part of the TRAILER TRASH PROJECT)

Great, great epic Spaghetti Western and almost Leone's best (barely being beat by my favorite, ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST (1968)). It's the one Spag everyone's heard of, it's Ennio Morricone's most iconic score and one of the most memorable and well-known movie themes ever, it solidified Van Cleef as one of the all-time badasses in screen history. Is it worth investing three hours of your life? Hells, yeah! It's one of the grandest westerns of all time. It's a work of art.

I have one bitch and it's got nothing to do with the film but the folks who restored it for the most recent DVD (and Blu-ray - which looks magnificent, btw) release. They fucked with the gunshot sound effects. One of the things fans of Spags love is the iconic gunshot sound effects. Someone thought it'd be a good idea to replace ALL of them with a higher sound quality modern ones that would sound better in 5.1 surround. Assholes. Fortunately they opted not to do that when restoring A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS (1964) and FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE (1965). It's a major blemish on an otherwise stellar job of restoration. I hate people sometimes.
