Star Wars Uncut (1977/2009)

Director: Casey Pugh (George Lucas on the original film)

Starring: The cast of STAR WARS (1977) plus a crapload of fans

More info: www.StarWarsUncut.com

Tagline: Thousands of fans remake a classic.

Plot: Star Wars Uncut is a crazy fan mashup remake of the original Star Wars movies. It is the brainchild of Casey Pugh, a developer dedicated to creating interactive experiences on the web. In 2009, Casey was inspired to use the Internet and an ever-ready pool of passionate Star Wars fans to crowdsource the classic film Star Wars IV: A New Hope. This pet project turned into a labor of love and creativity on a large scale. Nearly a thousand fans came together to participate and the resulting movie is equal parts fun, kooky, and dearly nostalgic.

My rating: 7.5/10

Will I watch it again? Yeah.

I was really, REALLY excited when I first heard about this a long time ago... It's a fun watch (even better with a group) because the style changes every fifteen seconds.  It's a great concept.  Not all of the segments work but it doesn't really matter all that much because it's only not going to work for fifteen seconds and the next segment is likely to be better if it does suck.  It's not the home run that I was hoping for but it's still quite entertaining.  They're working on the sequel now.  You can find out more about it at the site listed above.  For fans of STAR WARS, it's a must.  For everyone else, it's still fun.
