Tagline: Did Someone Say Action?

Plot: Young Danny Madigan is a big fan of Jack Slater, a larger-than-life action hero played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. When his best friend, Nick the projectionist, gives him a magic ticket to the new Jack Slater film, Danny is transported into Slater's world, where the good guys always win. One of Slater's enemies, Benedict the hitman, gets hold of the ticket and ends up in Danny's world, where he realises that if he can kill Schwarzenegger, Slater will be no more. Slater and Danny must travel back and stop him.

My rating: 8.5/10

Will I watch it again? YES!

I can't believe I've avoided this movie for all these years because I'd always heard it was so bad.  It kills me when I allow myself to sometimes listen to others when it comes to shit like this.  I LOVED this movie.  It's hilarious and Schwartzenegger is fantastic.  The parodies are hilarious and there are a ton of callbacks to his earlier films and others (I totally dug the Stallone gags).  The kid did a pretty good job.  Usually kids with roles this big don't cut it but he did just fine.  The supporting cast was great, too.  The script is clever and tons of fun and I'm so glad it was John McTiernan running the show.  This guy has some serious credentials.  If all he ever directed was this, PREDATOR (1987) and DIE HARD (1988) he'd be one of the greats but he also directed other great flicks including THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER (1990) and THE 13th WARRIOR (1999).  That's quite a feat.  He's only directed 11 pictures and he hasn't done anything since 2003.  What the hell?  If you're like me and you put off watching this because of the bad press, don't wait much longer.  It's a great action flick with tons of laughs.
