Hi-Tech Hitler (2006)

Director: Andrew Webb

Starring: Adolf & pals

Plot: It was the technology that fueled the Third Reich’s war machine. State of the art weaponry designed for world domination, combined with some of the greatest inventions of the 20th century. Their research led to the electron microscope, audio tape and even a link between smoking and cancer. But these discoveries sometimes came at great human cost.

My rating: 7/10

Will I watch it again? No. Once was fine.

It's interesting, albeit natural, that we tend to hear about the bad things that our enemies do/did. To hear it from textbooks or from most people, nothing good came out of Germany in the 30s and 40s. It turns out there was a whole bunch of ground-breaking shit - electromagnetic recording tape, the first jet engine, electron microscope, airplane ejection seats, and of course, Castle Wolfenstein!

This History Channel documentary spends nearly all of its time on the first four. I spend most of my time on the last one. It's an interesting look at how forward-thinking Hitler Baby and his Alley Cats were yet they also failed to rally behind some technologies that could have changed the course of the war (until it was too late, of course.) Silly Germans.
