Zeder (1983)

Director: Pupi Avati

Starring: Gabriele Lavia, Anne Canovas, Paola Tanziani, Cesare Barbetti, Bob Tonelli, Ferdinando Orlandi, Enea Ferrario

More info: IMDb

Tagline: One man's search for an ancient secret...and the dead will rise from their graves!

Plot: Stefano, a young journalist, buys a used typewriter and accidentally sees that some text is still readable on the ribbon. He manages to reconstruct the story of a scientist, Paolo Zeder, who in the 1950's discovered that some types of terrain have the power to revive the dead that are buried in them. Stefano's investigations bring him in contact with a group of renegade scientists that are still making experiments to prove Zeder's theories.

My rating: 5.5/10

Will I watch it again? Nope.

If you're looking for a zombie picture, as the poster clearly suggests, you're digging in the wrong place. It's more of a horror thriller but there aren't any undead like you're thinking. It's an average Italian thriller with a horror slant that's not that bad but then it's not that good, especially when you consider the poster is misleading as hell. I could probably give it maybe a 6 but that great poster art is as misleading as a poster for a movie called DEEP THROAT that promises sex but delivers a training film for medical students on how to perform an emergency tonsillectomy. There are times when I want what I ordered on the menu and this wasn't it. Send it back.
