Blaze Starr Goes Nudist (1962)

Director: Doris Wishman

More info: IMDb

Tagline: Blaze Starr, Proud and Beautiful...UNCOVERED by Nature's Intimate Paradise

Plot: Stripper Blaze Starr, playing herself, drives her agent--who is also her fiancé--to distraction by ignoring scheduled "press functions" and spending her weekends at a nudist camp.

My rating: 5/10

Will I watch it again? Nah. Once is all you need with these kinds of pictures.

Can't a world famous stripper get away from the rat race and enjoy her weekends lounging at a local Florida nudist camp? Of course, but will her agent/fiance allow it? Nope. Here's Ms. Starr at home...

and at the theater. She's a gal who just wants to relax.

My heart goes out to Ms. Starr for what must have been a very difficult time in her life. Watching nudists in their (ahem) natural habitat makes me long to be among them. There's sports...

"That's Leslie. She's our swimming champ.
Let's watch her for a minute."

Yes, that's actual dialogue from the movie.

And there's music!

As you can see, life at a nudist camp is more than just being middle-aged and naked. The nudist film genre was a huge step in getting around the obscenity laws in the late 50s and early 60s since they showed people doing what they normally do at these places, ala documentary-esque. Film maker Doris Wishman was one of the best with such titles as NUDE ON THE MOON (1960), DIARY OF A NUDIST (1962) and GENTLEMEN PREFER NATURE GIRLS (1963). The Something Weird Video DVD release features a beautiful print along with the trailer, two striptease performances by Blaze Starr and gallery art. It's worth picking up if you're inclined to watch this more than once.

At the request from the female readers asking for some male nudity, I give you...

Sorry, gals, that's all there was.
