Maniac Cop (1988)
Director: William Lustig
Starring: Tom Atkins, Bruce Campbell, Laurene Landon, Richard Roundtree, William Smith and Robert Z'Dar
More Info: IMDB
Tagline: You have the right to remain silent. Forever.
Plot: In New York, people are slain and strangled to death brutally on the open street. All witnesses agree that the murderer was in a cop's uniform. Soon the police searches and finds a suspect in its own ranks: Jack Forrest, turned in by his own wife. To prove his innocence, he has to investigate on his own.
My Rating: 6/10
Would I watch it again? Is Bruce Campbell the Love Master? possibly
Neat little horror crime picture that doesn't take itself too serioiuly. It's nice to see Bruce in something against type. Atkins & Smith are always kick ass cool. Some great kills and gore but the story drags 2/3 of the way through and the shocker at the end isn't that shocking. But it's still worth a look. With a great tagline like that you can't help but warm up to the idea of checking it out.
