My rating: 7.5/10

Will I watch it again? Sure.

It just hit me that I watched this two years ago and completely forgot to write it up.  It's a good flick and better than the average Sword & Sorcery pictures that had been coming out over the years. I remember being perplexed as to why this hadn't been shown in U.S. theaters until last year and even then it was in limited release which means it didn't play near my podunk town.  I would've gathered the gang up to go see it on the big screen even though we'd already watched it a year earlier on an import.  It's got a great character in Kane (Purefoy) and there's some great action with cool special effects.  The big action ending was great but none of us liked what happened afterward.  It felt like a cheesy cop-out but it's not enough to keep me from watching it again and it's possible that it's explained beforehand and I just missed it.  Director Bassett had plans for two more films but it seems pretty obvious that they're not going to happen, yet shittier Hollywood films keep getting made.
