My rating: 6.5/10

Will I watch it again?  No.

If you like the Avalon/Funicello Beach movies then you'll like this one. I actually dig this one more than the others and that's probably because it stars Dwayne Hickman alongside Avalon.  I've been a fan of his since I was a kid in the 70s watching reruns of THE MANY LOVES OF DOBIE GILLIS.  There are a lot of funny lines and gags in this picture but the pacing is too slow to really enjoy it all that much which is a damn shame.  It's peppered with fun.  The songs are fun, too.  It's also a nice change of scenery with the snowy mountains sitting in for the beaches of California.  Don't worry, sand fans, because we do get back to the beach by the end.  With some good songs and some funny on one side and some slow scenes on the other, it's hard to love this picture but at the same time, I'm glad I saw it.  The MGM Midnite Movies double feature comes with MUSCLE BEACH PARTY.  This film is presented with a nice anamorphic widescreen print and the theatrical trailer (also A-wide).
