Will I watch it again?  No.

I kind of liked AUGUST UNDERGROUND (2001) but this sequel is definitely a huge step down.  The characters in the film that are making the film are annoying as hell (much like the first film).  Yeah, they're revolting humans but they're also way too childish to like.  But you don't watch these pictures for the characters, you watch them because you want to see some fucked up shit.  I'd like to tell you that you see some fucked up shit but the camera shakes like Katherine Hepburn in a blender.  It's more off-putting than the people that take turns holding it.  Like the first film, there's a musical interlude of sorts where our filmmakers go to a party with loud, harsh music. The Toe tag DVD  has the film presented in anamorphic widescreen which is odd considering the purposefully shitty VHS quality of the movie.  The extras you get are 20 minutes of footage (in night vision) of the U.S. premiere where there are maybe 60 people in attendance.  There is a brief Q&A at the end of it but it's abruptly cut short mid-sentence.  The trailers are two crudely animated half-minute pieces that do nothing to promote the film.  It's the same stuff that serves as the background to the menu and there are 7 deleted scenes (17 minutes total).  The first one at least sets up the motivation for why these people are torturing their victims which seems like it should have been included in the film.  I was wondering what the motivations were instead of being an act of randomness.  I really wish the DVD had a behind the scenes featurette but the closest you get is a 14 minute slideshow of behind the scenes pictures which is the best thing about the whole disc.  At least you get some of that making of stuff and the images are still for a change.  HA!  Have you ever wanted to see a woman's stomach gutted and then a guy sticks his dick in her wounds and fucks her?  You're wait is over.

August Underground (2001)

Director: Fed Vogel

Starring: Fred Vogel

More info: IMDb

Tagline: The sickest film ever made

Plot: Two serial killers go on a murdering rampage as one films the outcome from behind a video camera. One of the most realistically portrayed simulated snuff films.

My rating: 6/10

Will I watch it again? Probably not but this could be the one film I bust out when some horror fan know-it-all shows up thinking they've seen everything and aren't repulsed by anything.

This is definitely not a date movie!

So after watching S&MAN (2006) I just had to pop this one in to see what all the fuss is about. Yep, it's fucked up. Remember that scene in HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER (1986) where Henry & Otis are videotaping their murder of that family? This is kind of like a 70 minute version of that with some extra shit thrown in. This is not for anyone with a weak stomach. It's about as hardcore as you get that isn't real...and that's where it's impressive. It's not like anyone who reads this is going to run out and find a copy but, this is a taste of where this picture goes...

That's in the first few minutes, too. After the torture, murder, cutting up of the bodies, etc, our killers hit the road for some little adventures including picking up a female hitchhiker and humiliating her ending with a beating, some lame nonsense at a slamdance, some more humiliation, torture and murder at a convenience store and finally back at home with a couple of prostitutes that doesn't end happily. There's your movie, essentially.

The makeup effects are top notch and puts some big budget Hollywood movies to shame. It's not surprising to find out that Vogel was an instructor at Tom Savini's makeup effects school. Just the one image above is a prime example. You cannot see the seams where the woman's nipple/areola has been severed. Granted, the image is somewhat blurry but there's plenty of footage of it. Even with such great effects, without good performances (especially from the poor girl pictured) it wouldn't mean anything.

AUGUST UNDERGROUND is one of those pictures you need to show someone who doesn't know it's not real. That's where it would be most effective. It wasn't easy to watch but at the same time I knew it was only a movie. For what this film is striving for, it succeeds in spades. It's horrific and repulsive and it's sure to offend and turn off about 98% of viewers...but then if you're watching it, you're probably part of that 2% that isn't. Bust out the Coke and popcorn!

Hated: G.G. Allin and the Murder Junkies (1994)

Director: Todd Phillips

Starring: GG Allin

More Info: IMDB

Plot: Documentary about the life and death of the notorious underground punk icon GG Allin, the foul mouthed, heroin shooting lead singer of the Murder Junkies, who would throw excrement at the crowd, start fights with the biggest guys in the audience, and threatened to kill himself onstage. He was considered the lowest common denominator of our society by some, an avant-garde artist by others.

My Rating: 7/10

Would I watch it again? I could be persuaded with a specially-chosen group.

This...is...fucked...up! Watch in absolute amazement the antics of a talentless, relentless, dangerous, idiot nut job punk rocker named G.G. Allin. Wow. I'm rarely stunned, shocked or surprised to the point this film made me. It's insane. Oh, and his music is shit.

So, we've established who he was. Now let's see what he did. We will try to accomplish this in pictures.

These are TAME compared to what you see in this documentary. He freely cuts himself across his stomach and chest with a razor blade, while lying on his back he has a girl piss on his face and he begins to vomit up the hot dogs he woofed down, he brutally beats the snout (and has it beat out of him) of concert goers (including women), he's naked A LOT, he puts bananas up his ass (ON STAGE) and let's 'em fly (I think he even eats it), he shits on stage during a concert (I think he even eats that, too). The list goes on and fucking on. THIS...IS...FUCKED...UP!

We get to meet all kinds of lovely folks through this 90 minute romp through the underbelly of the classical music world. For example, there his drummer...who likes to play naked. Why? I'll let him tell you. It's more special that way.

"There are physical reasons for it [playing naked] because of if I wear clothing, I play very heavily and I sit very hard on the drum seat and I irritate my skin, severely sometimes, and it really hurts and if I sit on plastic or on a good vinyl seat, with nothing underneath, I don't get hurt. That's basically the main reason."

GG wasn't the only one who was mental. He was surrounded by them.

I would say the guy's got balls but, as you can see in the pictures, he clearly doesn't. He speaks like Charles Manson on a bad day. He's deluded and he's a moron. The documentary crew follows him over the course of the last year or two of his life. He died of a drug overdose during post production. Surprise. They came back and shot some funeral footage. He was buried wearing a jacket and a jock strap, holding a beer. Now that's class. I'm now inspired to take my own band to new, lower heights.

This film is an exercise in your ability to finish it without tossing your cookies. I made it, therefore it rates a 7. It really is a fascinating look at what happens when you just don't care. We're surrounded by people that would like to have that kind of attitude, not necessarily taking it as far as GG did, but get distracted by shiny objects due to their short attention spa... Ooh, look! A bobble head.

The Jim Rose Circus Sideshow (1993)

Director: Jonathan Dayton & Valerie Faris

Starring: Jim Rose, Bebe the Circus Queen, Matt 'The Tube' Crowley, The Amazing Mr. Lifto, The Enigma, The Torture King

More Info: IMDB

Plot: February 5, 1993, in front of a standing room-only-crowd at Seattle's Moore Theatre, impresario Jim Rose performs his own odd tricks - putting a screwdriver up his nose, pounding a nail into his head, and pushing his face into broken glass. He also introduces and provides a running commentary on four other sideshow performers: Mr. Lifto, who can lift and swing heavy objects from various body piercings, the Torture King, who turns himself into a human pincushion, the Enigma, who swallows worms, crickets, and swords, and Matt "The Tube" Crowley, who ingests various things into his nose, mouth, and stomach and bring them back out. The crowd goes wild.

My Rating: 7/10

Would I watch it again? Does vomit-inducing freak show acts sound like a great night for a first date? You betcha!

This is some train-wreck sick shit and it's fucking awesome. I mean come on; a guy, through a tube, has all kinds of stuff poured down his throat, throws it back up and audience members are encouraged to come on stage and drink some. AND THEY DO! It's bloody fucking disgusting. Stomach-churning at least. Woof. It's really amazing what these people do, showing us some extremes in what the human body can endure. It's pre-Jackass Jackassicity. It's definitely something that should be thrown on the tube when the party starts to fade and you're left with the diehards. Even at only 35 minutes, it could easily clear the room. And if your girlfriend or boyfriend stick it out with you then you know it's love.

Here's the entire show in 6 parts:
