My rating:  7/10

Will I watch it again?  Yes.

How about those cool opening credits ascending through the hole? The art design is great and even though some of the effects are often very good, some don't hold up well but it didn't lessen my enjoyment.  The story moved at a nice pace which surprised me.  There were a couple of times when they went a little long like in the scene when our heroes are climbing and exploring.  It's a minor gripe but it means little when considering the movie is as good and fun as it is.  This is a good case for what money can do.  Without such great sets and effects this wouldn't have been as good.  This is one of five classic sci-fi horror movies from the 50s in the Universal DVD set The Classic Sci-Fi Ultimate Collection.  The only extra is the theatrical trailer.  It's a great set.
