My rating: 6/10

Will I watch it again?  Maybe.

This picture may not offer much up in the way of excitement but it's better than your average flick of this type from the 50s.  The creature effects are very simple and effective.  A lot of people die (yay) and almost all of them die stupidly.  The filmmakers could've at least given them better exits.  It would've helped (and have been more expensive) if the spider could run instead of slowly crawling.  It's like having that one shuffling zombie that'll never get you unless you stop and do nothing but scream and cower until it gets you.  Anyway, it's kind of by the numbers and above average but still fun and short.  Look for Clint Eastwood as a jet pilot.  If you blink you'll miss him.  This is one of five classic sci-fi horror movies from the 50s in the Universal DVD set The Classic Sci-Fi Ultimate Collection.  The film is presented in anamorphic widescreen and includes the theatrical trailer.  It's a great set.
