Plot:  A couple of musicians are on their way to a show at a country bar. Along the way, they pick up a couple of sexy hitchhiking ladies and decide to pull over for a pitstop. Eventually, they make it to the bar and uncover that the deep voiced country singer that also plays there is also a pimp who uses the "waitresses" to make him some extra cash. It is up to our musician heroes to put an end to the singer and his operation.

My rating:  6/10

Will I watch it again?  No.

Something Weird Video released this on a DVD double feature with SWEET GEORGIA (1972) and at least it's better than that picture.  It's a 70s softcore flick with better acting than you'd expect and star Rene Bond is very likable and easy on the eyes.  There's a good deal of nudity as you'd expect and there's a decent plot.  What's weird is the bar (where most of the film takes place) features a live country band that has some of the worst music you'd think would've ever been performed in a bar.  It's not the worst music you'll hear but I can't imagine any bar where it would be acceptable except for folks who want a good laugh.  I'm just sayin' it's not real world stuff you'd actually hear performed live.

The simulated sex scenes (although some looked like they could've been hardcore but had the hard stuff edited out) aren't as boring as a lot of the pictures of this ilk from the day and, again, Rene Bond is very easy on the eyes.  There's lots of sleaze going on by the way of Mike (Ojena) who runs the bar and the prostitution ring.  He's not beyond violence, rape and murder.  The ending is really abrupt.  The good guys find out what's going on, say they're going to call the cops and then they go after the bad guy and that's it.  We don't get to see the conclusion, just hear about it.  It's not a bad film and I wasn't bored for a minute (which says something).  You could do a lot worse with your 75 minutes.  The SWV DVD comes with the other film but it's lighter on the extras than most of SWV's usual releases.  You get the trailer for COUNTRY HOOKER, two shorts and two galleries of Harry Novak exploitation art and photos.
