Would I watch it again? What 'chu talkin' 'bout, Willis?
This has got a lot of things going for it; a great cast, dark humor, tight action and a fun offbeat script courtesy of the director, Shane Black. Downey is great as always as the guy stuck in the middle of a convoluted plot trying to figure things out and stay alive in the process. He's not the smartest guy around but he's no dummy and he's sportin' a witty sense of humor, the kind that Downey OWNS. But the big star is behind the screen - Shane Black. This guy cranked out a gem of a picture that needs to be seen.
The whole thing is a riff on the crime novels of Hammet and Chandler. From the stylish opening credits to the rapid fire dime store novel detective delivery, KKBB is a lot of fun. It will keep you guessing and you probably won't figure it out but it won't matter. You'll enjoy every minute of it. I did.
