My rating:  7/10

Will I watch it again?  No.

I don't know what the hell is going on with that movie poster with the alternate title, BLAST, but that looks like a different movie.  This is more social drama than some action, Blaxploitation flick.  It's a brutal slap in the face.  It's a low budget flick (with Williams & Martin as two of the producers through Williams' production company) so the acting can be below average at times but Williams shines.  He brings some heavy shit.  The picture plays with flashbacks a lot and it works very well.  Wade Marcus' score serves the film well.  Based on Jimmy Garret's play, screenwriter and director Oscar Williams does a fantastic job of bringing to the screen the problem of racism and socio-economics and the people who are affected most.  It's a powerful statement and everyone does a fine job at telling the story.  It's so well told that it was easy to overlook some of the bad acting and such.  And after all of that we get an explosive, action packed downer of an ending.
