Would I watch it again? I suppose so, with the right company and some schnapps.

I first heard about this film nearly 10 years ago when I discovered a small niche genre called Nazisploitation. WTF? Yeah! This was touted as the one to beat. I watched the trailer online and immediately purchased the newly released DVD. I've been sitting on the damn thing all this time and I've finally gotten around to watching it. I've easily seen the trailer fifty times, usually as a result of wanting to show someone that 'something different'. I don't think I lost any friends over it but I probably came close.

It's not the balls-out fun fest you'd think but it is pretty damn entertaining. Considering the small budget, the cast and crew did a fantastic job. The acting's much better than you'd expect and makeup specialist Joe Blasco should have been nominated for an Oscar. His makeup effects are outstanding, especially for a 1975 low budget exploitation flick! It rivals makeup effects for most movies before or since. I am impressed.

Dianne Thorne is fantastic as the titular (ahahahahaha) character. If it weren't for her world-class assets, I'd swear it was Scott Bakula in drag.

And the funny thing about Ilsa? There was a real-life Nazi Ilsa during WWII, known for her sadistic torture and murders of concentration camp prisoners!!! No...shit! Her name was Ilse Koch and she's got her own wikipedia page HERE. See? Who would have thought that history could be so entertaining?

Sporting more nudity than a Russ Meyer birthday party, loads of quality gore, fantastic production values and a subject matter that's sure to appeal to about five of us, ILSA: SHE WOLF OF THE SS is a MUST SEE! Wait...OMFG! I just checked on it to let you know where you can find it. You can't. It appears as though it's been discontinued and Netflix doesn't have it. Nuts! It's definitely worth a rental and if this kind of thing is your bag, buy it. The DVD sports a great widescreen transfer, the trailer and a very informative and entertaining commentary track with the director, producer David F. Friedman and little miss Nazi tits herself, Dianne Thorne! Sieg Heil, Baby!
