Will I watch it again? No.
I had no expectation going into this except that hopefully it was better than the second one. It is but not by much. At least it's got some good kills, Viggo Mortensen and Ken Foree. They helped. This picture didn't do anything to expand on the original film but then it didn't need to. This isn't exactly a franchise that felt like doing that in the first place. It's like the Friday the 13th flicks in that the audience only needs good kills and some entertainment for 90 minutes to satisfy. Nudity helps (none here) but it's not a requirement. This is a franchise I can do without even though the first film is one of my favorite horror films. I've now seen everything in the franchise except for the most recent picture, LEATHERFACE (2017) and I've got no desire to see it. Unless someone makes an earnest TCM down the line that tries to do something good rather than rely on name recognition alone then I'm going to stick with the '74 classic and leave it at that.
