Plot: Ruby Ridge was the site of a deadly confrontation and siege in northern Idaho in 1992 between Randy Weaver, his family, his friend Kevin Harris, and agents of the United States Marshals Service and Federal Bureau of Investigation. The events resulted in the death of Weaver's son Sammy, his wife Vicki, and their dog (Striker) as well as Deputy U.S. Marshal William Francis Degan.
My rating: 8/10
Will I watch it again? Yes.
This is what can happen when people do stupid things. Both Weaver and the FBI made some WTF decisions but it was the FBI who escalated this thing to astronomic and deadly proportions. Watch the film to see what happened. As far as I can tell, the film makers did a great job with the picture and the least of which is the interviews. I was really surprised at how many folks that were involved were on camera telling their side. I remember when this happened but I never really read further about it or watched anything about it. This picture feels like it's doing a great job of piecing together the story from several perspectives without getting into any wild theories. It feels like a straightforward order of events with horrible consequences. The FBI sure fucked this one up. And then months later they were swinging their dicks down in Waco and we all know how that went. Even if that one wasn't the fault of the FBI, their massive presence and decisions didn't win any friends.
