This is Wingrove's first religious erotic short film. For that, it's just fine. 7 minutes of images and moody music (no dialogue).
It's supposedly loosely based on a play by the 19th Century author, Auguste Villiers de l'Isle-Adam. After reading the synopsis on WikipediA, I can't see how it can be said it's 'loosely' based as there's nothing in the film that matches with the plot of the play. Regardless, it's all about mood and eroticism and for that, it succeeds. It does touch on religion with angels and all but I wouldn't consider it Nunsploitation as I've seen it listed online. It probably gets that from being included on the Visions of Ecstasy DVD which sits firmly in that genre.
